MIMARU

Knowledge base for a manufacturing company

We pulled into one system what used to sit on separate computers: the procedures, instructions and working material of every department. More than a thousand pages, 60 staff, live within a month.

1000+ pages60 staffLive within a month

Problem

What the company knew lived in people’s heads and in files on personal computers. Every department kept its instructions its own way, the only way to find something was to ask a colleague, and a new hire learned the job from people rather than from documents.

Material scattered across personal computers
Finding anything means asking a colleague
New hires learn the job from people, not documents

Solution

We deployed a knowledge base on the company’s own infrastructure and moved the departments’ material into it, bringing everything under one structure and one set of access rights.

A single section structure, organised by department
Existing material migrated and proofread
Access rights by role and by department
Search across the whole base instead of asking round the office
